WHERE DO I GO FOR GUIDANCE!

The Lord says, ‘I will teach you the way you should go; I will instruct you and advise you.’” (Psalm 32:8 Good News Translation)

This week I got a call from a person who lives in another part of the country. He knew I pastored a church and started our conversation by sharing that he had some things on his mind and he wanted to know where to go for wisdom. Instead of acting like I was the prima donna of theology or the primary source to give him guidance, I directed him to the profitable word of God. Now I did not just say, “Read your Bible,” but I described related passages from the book that is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path, suggesting that he should look specific scriptures to expand on what I shared with him.

When he called me, I was standing in the aisle of a big box home supply store looking for a certain type of screw. I was not in some plush office, not in a pretty isolated conference room, and not in a private area where others could not hear what I was saying. My location did not matter. This person needed attention right then, not at an appointment set for a later time! Keep that in mind, my friend, be ready, equipped because of your own diligent study of the word. This will ensure that you will not provide mere human advice, but rather heavenly counsel that can be found in the Bible.

It’s Saturday, so I won’t keep you reading too long. But first, I do have something you need to know. You see, tomorrow, the Lord will have some specific guidance for you, specifically for you, in that special place where the saints gather together. Yes, the church. I suggest that you plan on attending. Do not merely attend physically but be attentive so that you can be fed spiritually. You can benefit from the best guidance available to man!

Have a great day but have an even greater day in the special presence of the Lord in the sanctuary tomorrow. Open your ears to hear what thus saith the Lord. Be blessed!

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6 New International Version)

  1. That “person” is always out there seeking guidance, not knowing where to turn. It is such a blessing that you were there for this person that reacheed out to you. God places us and provides opportunities for us to share His word. I want to be guided by Him to say just what is needed at that given time.

    1. Keep doing what you are doing, praying regularly and often, studying the word, and depending on the Holy Spirit! Oh, in regard to just when you need HIm, “He’s always near.” Just keep trusting Him! Be blessed Dr. King. Thanks for reading and responding with such regularity.
