“Where is He…” (Matthew 2:2a NASB)
Instead of focusing on the magi on the east who had come to see Jesus, and when they found Him they worshipped Him, let’s focus on you in the present time, specifically on this day.
First, however, to put you in the frame of mind where you can relate to the question in the title above, let me do a preliminary interview with you for a minute. Do you remember when the brother said he would pick you up at a certain time, and when he failed to show up on time, you asked, “Where is he?” Can you recall when you were escorted by a nurse to the examination room and you were told, “The doctor will be with you in a moment?” Your definition of “in a moment” was different than the nurse’s definition, and after waiting several long, anxious moments, you asked, “Where is he?” Revisit the past, the days when gasoline was twenty-two cents a gallon. In those days, you finally saved fifteen cents so you could buy a frozen treat when the ice cream man came buy. But on that certain day, he did not come at his regular time, and you asked, “Where is he? Did you ever stay up late waiting for your son, old enough to drive, to get home, anxious because the curfew you had established had come and gone? Pacing back and forth and you asked, “Where is he?” Did the pizza delivery guy take to long, the uber show up late, or the mailman who usually came early in the morning had not shown up at his usual time and you said to yourself in all such instances, “Where is He?” As you are thinking, very cognitive this early in the morning, I know you can add plenty of more examples. But don’t think about them too long. Instead, think about the title above as it relates to Jesus showing up in you today. Let’s get to the primary part of my interview with you.
Where is He? Is He in your heart? Is He already in your plans? Is He in your walk and your talk? Where is He? Did He make His presence known when you arose from your sleep? Did He show up at work with you? Was He with you at the coffee shop, coffee room, or the fast-food drive thru? (You knew I would ask that one didn’t you?) Where is He? Is it apparent that He is in your life? Will he be found in any of your conversations today? When you get upset, will He show up and show out, as opposed to you showing out? When you pray, will He be in your prayers, as you thank the Lord for sending His only begotten Son? Where is He? Is He in your personal worship and praise, evident by how you act, even early this morning? Will He still be there later in the day? Will He be in your cry for help, like the one I use all the time, “Help me Jesus!”? Where is He? Did you leave Him in the sanctuary on Sunday? Where is He?
The primary part of the interview is over my friend. Now this is what you have to do. You have to go out and remember the correct answers to all the questions I asked you in the second paragraph of today’s meditation. Don’t worry, I’m doing the same. If you have problems finding Him, keep seeking Him in all that you do and say. Be blessed!
