WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING

God takes care of his own, even while they sleep.” (Psalm 127:2b Contemporary English Version)

Your anticipated Monday Short meditation has arrived! Listen for a minute or two! I got up early Saturday morning, around 2:20 a.m.  I could have gotten a drink of water, stopped at the restroom and went back to bed. But that’s not what happened.  Instead of resting, I started acting as if I was restless. I did a little decorating, moving some things around, not out of compulsion, but because of seeing a certain need to bring a little color into a room I had been working on. Now, in anticipation that I might be asked, “What time did you get up so early and just what were you doing, so early this morning?”  So, in advance, I rehearsed my answer, foreseeing the possibility such an inquiry. My planned response, “While you were sleeping, I was working.” In my mind, I went as far as to plan the next statement that I would follow that up with in a tender tone, “And I am not done, not yet.”

Rejoice this Monday morning, after arising from your Sunday night slumber. Yes, rejoice my friend, for while you were sleeping, God was still working. More specifically, God was still taking care of you, for you are one of His own! Keep rejoicing, because God will continue to take care of you throughout your Monday hours, and beyond. Can we get a little more rejoicing from you? Why? Because God is not done taking care of you!  And He is not done molding and shaping you into what He wants you to be, for His purpose. He’s not done, not yet! Be blessed!

I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains. He won’t let you stumble, your Guardian God won’t fall asleep. Not on your life! Israel’s Guardian will never doze or sleep. God’s your Guardian, right at your side to protect you—shielding you from sunstroke, sheltering you from moonstroke. God guards you from every evil, he guards your very life. He guards you when you leave and when you return, he guards you now, he guards you always.” (Psalm 121 The Message Bible)
