WOKE UP EARLY THIS MORNING

“…nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” (Luke 22:42b KJV)

In the evenings and sometimes when we wake up in the middle of the night, we have ideas and plans to do certain things on the next day.  When that happens we are in agreement with those who purport that our most creative moments are in the evening.  Okay, but what happens when morning comes?  Do we actually turn our ideas into innovation and then work to convert our innovation into achieving our purposeful ideas?  Do our plans become postponed as we contradict studies that morning time is our best time to work?  Does procrastination cover up our plans or does physical weariness push our best intentions to the side?  Well, I woke up really early this morning, with my mind, stayed on Jesus.  So I prayed for His help.

I’m a morning person, perhaps a rare bird because both my creative and productive times come in the morning; sometimes earlier than others.  Now whether you are a morning person or an evening person, I hope you find the time to be a praying person.  After all, who can bless us with the wisdom to be creative?  Who can sustain our strength to keep us productive?  Who is it that can enable us to perform to higher standards, morning, new day our night?  Who sets our expectations for the entire day, every day?  Who will keep you encouraged and motivated to meet those expectations?  If your answer is, “The Lord,” good for you!

When Jesus faced the agony of the cross, He addressed His Father in heaven.  After praying, He arose to accomplish the work that was set before Him and He accomplished it!  He had the will, God’s will, to get it done!

This morning you have some things you thought about doing something during the sunlit hours of yesterday or last night; things that related to the place where you live, the relationships in your home, things related to your job, and things related to your decision to be a follower of Christ.  You had your ideas last night!  Well, wake up and initiate them, implement them, and insist that you will demonstrate the will to get it done; accompanied by God’s will being done too!  Pour you coffee!  Pray your morning prayer!  Pursue success!  Put your plans in line with the purposes of God in all walks of your life!  Please God, others, and you by accomplishing the things today that you pledge to do yesterday!  You can do it, right?  Alright then, get started!  Be blessed!

“You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.” (Proverbs 19:21)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
