Put your books away, clear your desk. We are going to have a pop quiz today and you are going to be on the “hotseat” (Quote from your toughest teacher from years past!)
Here we are, in the shortest month of the year, one in which many will not be short-changed on Black History, at least for the next 28 days. Today, sticking with the “short” theme, let me give you a pop-quiz where the answer is “Yes” or “No.” There are only four questions, three based on little known Black History, and one based on something relevant to all, regardless of race or ethnicity.
In the verse above, there is one requirement, one that does not have room for any exceptions, a requirement that I would like you to focus on. That being, diligently practicing kindness. The Lord requires it. You know that and you also know that doing what He requires, specifically related to showing kindness, will make someone’s day, including even your own, a great way. Remember, just answer “Yes” or “No.”
Question #1: Do you know that Dr. Joseph N. Jackson invented the remote control? “Yes,” or “No?”
Question #2: Do you know that Lisa Gelobter worked on several pioneering internet technologies and is credited with developing animation to create GIFS? “Yes,” or “No?”
Question #3: Do you know that Crispus Attucks was from Framingham, Massachusetts, the city where TJX’s headquarters is located today, and that he was the first American killed in the American Revolution? “Yes,” or “Not?” Side note: No former Attucks High School Tiger should miss this question!
Question #4: Do you know Jesus, not just from a historical perspective, but from a spiritual perspective, recognizing Him from a personal perspective, as your Savior and also recognizing God, truly the Head of your life? “Yes,” or “No?”
Well, how did you do on the pop quiz? I hope at a minimum you answered “Yes” to the last question. If not, perhaps, in the same way that you will fact-check the first three question, do some fact checking about Jesus. You might just end up walking in the Light! Have a wonderful Wednesday, and without any reservation, stay God-conscious and Christ centered. Be blessed!
“You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing. Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:17-18 NLT)
