“YOUR BIG TARGET IS NOT TOO BIG TO MISS!”

“The LORD who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine.” (I Samuel 17:37a NLT)

A pew member and not a pulpiteer this past Sunday, I had ears to hears as I listened to a powerful, preached word.  Thank God for the preached word!  There were major points that were intended to make the mindful listener make some changes immediately, now.  And beneath every major, pertinent point presented, there were plenty of minor points that were of equally major significance, taken from the familiar account of David versus Goliath.  One was about the smooth stones, which I just might write about tomorrow or in the future.  And another was about David’s present target, a giant of a man.  The preacher painted a picture with his inspired words that portrayed a truth, “Goliath was too big of a target to miss.”  Aside from the fact that God was with Him and on His side, David’s target was much larger, easier to focus in on compared to the targets he had hit in practice and in prior, real-life experiences.  His target was too big to miss!

How well-timed, delivered at a time where high school graduates are ready to begin a path to post-secondary school graduation.  How timely for those who, with the help of God, have been victorious over smaller obstacles in their lives as adolescents, but now must face the challenges of adulthood.  We were reminded that the same God is still on our side.  We were reminded how some targets took a lot more focus in the past, particularly when our faith was being developed for the moments when we would face bigger targets.  We were reminded that we have been educated biblically, enlightened spiritually, and enlarged our faith powerfully!  Therefore, whatever big target we are facing, it was good news to know that our big target is not too big to miss.  Think about your life!  Think how God brought you up from being down before!  Think of how depression was destroyed with the hope that God gave you on more than one occasions!  Think about how the Lord helped you mount up with wings like eagles and you escaped the seemingly insurmountable!  Think about how He showed you, in spite of what others said, that nothing was impossible for God!  Think about your past hurting that was turned into a healing!  The same God is at work in you now!  Think about the fact that you as a believer cannot miss the joys that await you in eternity.  Because of your faith in Christ, the target called everlasting life is definitely not too big for you to hit.  As a matter of fact, you hit it the day you released the words from your mouth by means of your heart, just as David released his smooth stone from his sling!  Your words, “I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, the One the Father sent to save us, the One who sacrificed His life on Calvary that we might live, the One who was raised from the dead on the third day with all power in His hands!”

Today you will face some big things, one or more of them will be big targets!  When that happens just summon these words to your consciousness, “Your target is not too big to miss!” You can overcome the obstacle that is trying to steal your joy and recall your peace!  Next, supplement conscious thought with a shout of victory in advance, “Victory is mine!”  Now don’t stop there!  Listen to the words of Yolanda Adams below!  Praise God!  Pray to God!  Prepare to successfully hit and remove your big target!  Have a great day! A wonderful day!  Be blessed!

“I got, got the victory
I got the sweet, sweet victory in Jesus – yes, I do He is a mighty conqueror
In him I will trust all my battle’s He’ll fight
I got, got the victory I got the sweet, sweet victory in Jesus
For me He died but He rose on the third day that’s why I have true victory every day.”

Still committed to the climb,
