“YOUR CHANCE TO DO MORE THAN PRAY”

“There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24 NLT)

Countless times, week after week, and perhaps day after day, we assure somebody, tell them to their face that we will pray for them.  We repeat the words of the song that include the lyrics, “You can depend on me to pray for you.”  And we even go so far as to repeat additional words from the same song, “I’m going to keep on praying, keep on praying for you.”  Outstanding!  I’m glad that you believe in prayer.  I’m glad that you believe that prayer changes things.  It is good to know that you realize that prayer is a means of interceding in the lives of others.  And yes, I rejoice in the Holy Spirit for you realize that prayer even changes you, because in the midst of praying, you revel in your faith that the Lord really does have it all in His hands and the Lord is indeed able.

Make no mistake about it!  Our God-consciousness is heightened when we pray.  Sometimes all we can do is pray!  Yet most times, we are given a chance to do more than pray.  Today is one of those days!  Today is your chance to do more than pray?  How so?  Read on!

There is a passage that is one of the favorites of a faithful member of our church.  It is Psalm 1.  And if I ever need to have it recited in a teaching or preaching setting, I don’t have to wait for someone to find it in the middle of their Bible.  I just call on my sister in Christ to say it aloud.  She responds and recites it quite well.  She does it quickly.  She does it accurately.  She has no hesitation.  Well that passage, Psalm 1 in its entirety is important to send to some young person in your circle of family and friends and those who are far away of having a friendship with Christ, very remote and unable to sing yet, “What a Friend We Have In Jesus.”

So here is your chance to do more than pray.  Send this message to some young person you know.  Yes. I am really thinking about the young adults on the streets and those who think they are grown and are being lured to the ways of the world, allured away from the opportunity to experience rebirth, and walk in the newness of life, and they are placing themselves in danger.  And when I say danger, I am not just talking about suffering the experience of eternal death, but I am talking about the dangers that pop up everyday when one does not choose the right friends, let alone the best Friend, Jesus, the Christ.  So send this meditation out, forward it to as many young people as possible.  Another option, send them the link to markwritesdaily.com.

You are not done yet!  Keep praying for our young people, but right now on this Saturday morning, a perfect time, take advantage of your chance to do more than pray.  Here is the King James Version: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” (Psalm 1:1-2 KJV)

And, as a closing passage, I have inserted the same passage from The Good News Translation.  I’m not asking you to forward this meditation because I said so.  Listen!  When the Lord woke me up early Friday morning, He put this specific thought on my mind.  I got up immediately, obediently, purposefully, and prepared to send this specifically to you today, the day before the saints come marching in to local sanctuaries everywhere across the world.  You will be in that number when the saints come marching in, right?  Love you!  Be blessed!

“Happy are those who reject the advice of evil people, who do not follow the example of sinners or join those who have no use for God.  Instead, they find joy in obeying the Law of the Lord, and they study it day and night.” (Psalm 1:1-2 The GNT)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
