“For what [adequate] thanks can we offer to God for you in return for all the joy and delight we have before our God on your account?” (I John 1:9 NASB)
Thursday, and even Wednesday if you were one of the Thanksgiving meal preparers, you tasted the food, and it was ever so good. Let me express it another way, widen the circle, in order to connect with the title above. Thursday, many people walked by sight, but more so driven by an appetite that was propelled by what momma and dem used to say, “Your eyes were bigger than your stomach.” The multiple dishes of food almost looked Divine, and not only did you have a second serving, but either your host had take-home boxes or being the smart person you are, you brought your own Rubbermaid, large takeaway plastic container, the one with the red top, and you took enough food home to feed two people on Friday. Be cool now! It’s Saturday, so please allow me to inject a little humor, okay? Because I’m just kidding about the last comment. (Somebody is saying, “No, you telling the truth Pastah King!” Oh, I love it when they call me “Big Pastah.” Smile!
On top of the pledge or vow you made to start a diet this week, I have another pledge for you to make. Instead of walking by sight, as you did during the holiday feast, let your post-holiday walk be one of faith. Let your walk continue through the week ahead, starting with being present in the house of the Lord tomorrow. You knew I was going to get that one in, didn’t you? Well, as one of my children used to say as a toddler when I asked them why he did something, I will borrow his words to justify reminding you about church tomorrow. Here is what he said, on more than once occasion, “I got too!” Well, “I got too” ensure that I can influence as many people as possible not to forsake the assembly of the saints at your local church. What a perfect way to begin your post-holiday walk! It is never adequate, but continuing to give thanks and praise God in our living is essential. (An “Amen!” goes right here!) Get ready for Sunday! Be blessed!
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7 Modern English Version)
