YOU SHOULD STILL BE RUNNING TO HIS HOUSE

“The Lord is a mighty tower where his people can run for safety—.” (Proverbs 18:10 Contemporary English Version)

Today we will hear a lot about 911.  Many of us remember that day quite vividly, no matter where we reside in the world.  I know that I remember that day quite clearly.  And just as strikingly, I recall how companies were extending lunch hours to let employees go worship at nearby churches.  I’m reminded of how many people found their way into one of the local houses of God on the very next Sunday; showing up at a place where they had not darkened the doors of the church for ages, okay, for years.

People were running to churches; worshipping, praying, and seeking Divine protection.  Here’s an awesome theme that should be applicable going forward and including today: “You should still be running to His house.”  Don’t let conditions make your “religiosity” a conditional thing, where you only call on the Lord when crisis occur or when you fear that society is crumbling down.  Run to His house in the good times and the worst of times!  Oh, let me add something.  Don’t just run to the church house on Sunday, but every day, find yourself running to the house of the Lord on high!  Run to heaven!  Run to the place where you can find the occupied throne of God, occupied by the Almighty!  Remember, “You should still be running to His house!”

My last note, which I hope by now is not necessary, but I will say it anyway.  Run to His house this morning.  It will benefit you and it will benefit others as you are edified and as you testify by your mere presence in the Lord’s house that the Lord is worthy to be praised!  Enjoy services!  Be fed from the word of God and watch that feeding work on you and nurture you spiritually!  Yes, it works!  Maybe that was not the “last note” because I must implore your, instruct you, and insist that you to run to His house looking for the same things you looked for on the day we call 911.  He will still calm you!  He will still protect you!  He will still sooth you and strengthen you!  God has not changed!  He is still the same!  Be blessed!

“Don’t you know anything?  Haven’t you been listening?  God doesn’t come and go.  God lasts. He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine.  He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath.  And he knows everything, inside and out.  He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts.  For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall.  But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.” (Isaiah 4):28-31 The Message Bible)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
