THE PIT, THE MUD, AND THE MIRE

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” (Psalm 40:2 NIV)

What the Lord did for David, lifted Him up, he likewise will do for you.  Yes, He will!  You know that from your past experiences!  You know that what He has done before, He will do again!  He will lift you!  He will  lay His hands on you, and shape you in a sanctified way , leaving you, not only as better off, but better to be used by Him, and better by being even more amenable to the Almighty Lord having the right to mold you into what He, the Maker wants you to be.  Oh, give some praise to God right now!  Think about how many times He has lifted you up!  Makes you want to praise Him again doesn’t it?  Well go right ahead! And praise Him!

Praise Him for bringing you out, lifting you up from the pit depression to the point where you decided to declare over your depressors, “I still have joy!  Praise Him for bringing you out of all the filth, the mud that was pulling you down fast, but He lifted you up to where your faith kept you from the grip of sin!  Praise Him for lifting you out of the bondage in the mire; the swamp of disappointment, distress and difficulty!  Praise Him for delivering you to know that you are blessed to benefit from His anointment!   Yes, we need some mid-week praise every now and then, don’t we?  People have “Taco Tuesdays,” so we can rightfully and respectfully call today “Praise Wednesday!”   Take the position on this day that you “Can’t stop praising His name!”  That’s alright!  Forget critics that might hear you and display, “Praise is what I do!”

Praise Him in spite of any limitations, because He lifted you out to realize that your limitations can be laid low and you can still lurch out to serve Him in some way or the other!  Praise Him for pulling you out of those thoughts of past mistakes, and sitting your feet on a rock of forgiveness, forgetfulness, where you found out that you have been blessed with a greater mindset to do things right!  Praise Him when you were like the songwriter who declared, “I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore; sinking to rise no more.  But the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry.  And from the waters lifted me and safe am I!”  Yes, can you pass some more praise please!

Praise Him for bringing you out of the world of the lost and lifting you up to the Savior of the world, Jesus, our Rock in a weary land!  You ought to be praising God right now for all the heavy lifting that He has done in your life, bringing you out of this and that!  Remember, we have declared this as “Praise Wednesday!  Be blessed!

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
