WHEN SOMEONE TAKES “YOUR” FRIED CHICKEN OR BBQ RIBS

“Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32 NASB)

It’s July 4th and I just know that you are planning on barbecuing or attending a family cookout. On the menu will surely be some BBQ ribs and/or some fantastic fried chicken. I can see it now! You grab your sturdy paper plate(s) and while standing in line you have your eye on a delicious piece of fried chicken or some richly flavored ribs. You can’t wait! I’m imagining now, but as my youngest son would say, “He ain’t lying!” Let me get back to this short meditation. Before you can get to the table where the food is spread out, somebody takes the piece of chicken or the BBQ ribs that you had your eyes on! You are disappointed. No, let’s tell the truth! You are displeased, disturbed, and disgruntled! The nerve of someone taking “YOUR” food!

Well, if this really happens or something else happens in your holiday interactions, and it causes you to feel offended, don’t get mad! Don’t start no brawl with someone who is one of y’all! Let me share something with you that my pastor said Sunday as he preached the word. (Yes, this is your Sunday Share.)

Pastor M.R. King, Salt Of The Earth Church (Indianapolis, Indiana) made this comment: “Forgiveness is part of being holy.” Read that quote, one more time!

Have a great time, eat well, and let your light shine, showing on this Independence Day that you are truly free. Afterall, the bible says in the Gospel According to John, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36 KJV) Be blessed!

“One who conceals an offense seeks love, but one who repeats a matter separates close friends.” (Proverbs 17:9 NASB)

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
