“The Lord is my solid rock, my fortress, my rescuer. My God is my rock—I take refuge in him!—He’s my shield, my salvation’s strength, my place of safety.” (Psalm 18:2 CEB)
My effort this morning is to present you with something poetic, thematic, and didactic. Hopefully you will like the prose, quickly recognize the theme, and find the instructive features edifying; preparing you for just the right time in your life when the teaching will be of value. It’s early, but I’m going to give it a try.
Anxiety is acting like an anchor held by strong, sturdy hands, gripping on to your being; refusing to release and relentlessly keeps pulling you down.
Deeper you go into a state of worry; stress wears what seems to be an un-moveable crown.
What remedy can I find? How can I get peace of mind? How can I deal with such a dilemma, such as this kind?
My instruction for you is simple and pure.
Depend on the Lord. He is your rescuer.
The sun appears from the evening night, comes out from being hidden from view, but internally, dark clouds of despair or even deep seated grief deny you joy in the morning light; keeps you from recognizing the wonder that is ever so bright; the sun, a riveting sign of God’s unsurpassed power and unparalleled might.
You search for a cure within the depth of your mind; resort to deep concentration and of course, deep thinking. You try to replace sadness with gladness. You seek to focus on blessings instead of burdens. Yet when the little energy you do have is exhausted and fading, you wonder what else will prevent you from sinking.
My instruction for you is simple and pure.
Depend on the Lord. He is your rescuer.
Trouble comes unannounced. A test or trial shows up unexpected; there is no warning. Surprised, just maybe you are. Shaken, perhaps you are. But you realize no one is exempt from difficulty or danger, not the superb or the sub-par. Still you need a very present help in the time of trouble. You need a partner to help you pass your test and get you through the trial, doing your best.
My instruction for you is simple and pure.
Depend on the Lord. He is your rescuer.
My poetic effort is done. The theme disclosed and declared: God is our rescuer. The didactic effort, the teaching has been dispensed. So store revelation for future use, when really needed. Or, if you are facing something, seemingly insurmountable and not described above, apply the advice right now; accompanies with faith. Depend on the Lord. He is your rescuer. Be blessed!
Still committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
