“Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9b NASB)
You have started a new week. It’s Monday morning, a day which on one hand we wish could have been delayed so the weekend would be extended and on the other hand we realize we have been blessed to see a new day. On this new day, God has an expectation for you, the same as He did for Joshua, the successor of Moses, who was told to arise and lead His people to a better place. Let me be clearer about His expectation. God wants you to take the lead today. He wants you to stand on His promises and act like you know He is with you and will never fail you or forsake you. Wait now! There is more! He wants you to be confident and of good courage, setting the example for other believers who are looking at you as a role model; a type of leader. No, you don’t need a title, other than “Child of God,” to be a leader. The Lord expects you to live as best you can in accordance to His word and He does not want you to turn from His word; not to the right hand ot the left hand so that you may prosper wherever you go.
No need for concern. You will be helped in leading if you do what God told Joshua, “This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do all according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” Keep in mind that you have a couple of advantages: (1) You have more than The Law. You have the whole Bible! (2) The Holy Spirit will help you, bringing to remembrance what you have learned from God’s word.
Take the lead this week and be blessed personally while bringing about blessings for others in your sphere of influence; reaching every concentric circle that surrounds you, starting with your family, the circles nearest you, and stretching to the outermost circle where you have new encounters with people who are strangers to the will of God as revealed in His word! Let me put in a current vernacular! “You da man this week” or “You da maam this week!” So, get going now and take the lead! Stay God conscious! Surrender to executing the Lord’s expectation for you! Strongly press forward, displaying splendor as you stay committed to the climb! Step by step, follow Christ, and benefit from the closing verses. Be blessed!
“Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners,or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” (Psalm 1:1-3 NLT)
Still committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
