“Enoch: Enoch was sixty-five years old when his son Methuselah was born. Afterwards he lived another 300 years in fellowship with God, and produced sons and daughters; then, when he was 365, and in constant touch with God, he disappeared, for God took him!” (Genesis 5:21-24 Living Bible)
When reminded to be careful, to be cautiously alert on his travels, and carry on doing right wherever he goes, this particular young man, perhaps weary of my reminders, willing responds, “I always do.” Urged to watch the crowd, withstand worldly enticements, and walk upright, the same young man replies without hesitation, “I always do.” If encouraged to persevere, pray, and push forward in spite of the pressures of living, problems or precarious obstacles, the same response is uttered, “I always do.”
While no one will ever be perfect, we ought to emulate this young man by making his response our own retort. Oh, let’s go even further than that and follow the example set by Enoch in the days of antiquity. Enoch walked with God his entire, long life; staying in fellowship with Him and remaining in constant touch with God. Enoch lives “The Always Do Life.” Enoch stayed close to God and staying close to God evidently produced a good life; a life that didn’t end at all, but continue with the ultimate reward; being in the presence of God as the Lord took Him.
Now don’t get confused. We are still saved by grace through faith and not of ourselves. Salvation is a gift of God. It is not because of our works that we are saved. But our good works will be pleasing to our good God. Like a young child who tries to walk with his dad and keeping the same stride, that’s how we should walk with God. Then, our ways will be God approved. Our words that come out of our mouths will make God utter out of His mouth, “I’m well pleased.” Our willingness to demonstrate faith-driven resilience to walk with the Lord will put a great smile on the face of God. All this is possible when we put forth an effort to live “The Always Do Life” everyday. Let’s distinguish ourselves from others in our time, more so than ever before by living such a life. I won’t see what you do, but you want to know something? God will! Make sure to keep “The Always Do Life” in your behavior arsenal today, looking ahead to a bright tomorrow.
