“ ‘And now come, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.’ But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?’ And He said, ‘Assuredly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.’” (Exodus 3:10-12 NASB)
Do you remember when you were in elementary school or even high school and pupils were called out by their for passing notes. Often the teacher would confiscate the notes following a demanding, commanding order, “Give it to me!” Were you one of the students? Ignore that question. You don’t have to answer to me. I just want your attention for a minute or two.
You see, this is your Sunday Share meditation, where I share some of the notes I took the Sunday that just past. The Teacher in heaven’s classroom will has no problem with passing these types of notes. The Teacher actually is pleased when we pass notes like these. I have three objectives today: (1) Continue to place and emphasis on taking notes, in view of our human retention traits. (2) Share the main points that our Senior Pastor, Rev. M.R. King, presented to us; a specific message sent by God, for a specific purpose, specifically for all who had ears to hear. (3) Entice you and/or encourage you to visit Salt Of The Earth (Indianapolis) Church’s Facebook page where you can hear the whole message.
Here’s some of my scribbled notes I wrote on my church bulletin, demonstrating the value of taking notes:
Like Moses in the text above, we spend too much time looking in the rear-view mirror; looking at our past and we personally, or others, let that view affect our perceptions of how God can use us for the purpose He has called us. We need to be looking through the front windshield.
We see what we lack, but God sees a lot of opportunity. We see “can’t,” but God see that “we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.”
Don’t allow the church phraseology, “Won’t He do it” become your excuse for not doing what God wants you to do. Yes, He can do it, but there are things that He is asking us to do. The good news is that we don’t have to do it alone. He still will help us! He still will be true to His word never to leave us or forsake us. He will still strengthen us with the power to carry out our purpose. The Lord will provide! Trust in His provision.
We all need to come to our verse 20 in Chapter 4 of Exodus, a point where we surrender and step forward to do whatever it is that God is asking is to do!
Those were my notes. Pastor King’s three points in the sermon he preached, entitled, “Stop Talking Yourself Out Of It,” were as follows: (1) Stop Focusing on Your Limitations, (2) Start Trusting in God’s Provisions, (3) Step Forward in Obedience. Check out the message online and you will hear the Lord speaking specifically to you through His chosen vessel. Read the text above in context by going over Chapters 3 & 4 in Exodus. Have a great Thursday! Be blessed!
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
I’ve been using my mini iPad to keep notes and I have to admit that I can’t always capture all of it. Pastor has so many good points. What I do capture, I rarely share it with anyone. Passing my notes to someone is a good suggestion. His points were valid: don’t look at your limitations; remember that you can do all things with Christ.
Pass on your notes to somebody, even verbally. God gave it to you via His specific messenger, but it was not just for you. All who hear the word needed to hear that bit of counsel. Smile! Be blessed!
I like the saying “Do all you can and He will do all you can’t” and we know we can do all things through Christ. Thanks for sharing the notes!
I like the saying you started out with! That’s a great note to pass on. Thanks for responding from across the seas! Encouraging! Be blessed!
