PAN de DULCE, TORPEDOES, AND DONUTS…OH MY!

“You will be blessed the moment you realize you already are.” – Bryant McGill

Do you remember when you were a child and one of your parents brought home, much to your delight, an unanticipated, unexpected, and at times undeserved treat? I think we have all been there. Perhaps the father brought home some pan de dulce (sweet bread), torpedoes sandwiches, or hot donuts. Depending on your family’s economic well-being, it might have been something as simple as some bottled sodas that would take the place of the normal not so sweet Kool-Aid drink, barely sweetened because of the sparing use of the sugar supply in the house. Take a minute, recall how you were surprised by your parent bringing home a treat of some sort on a day that had no special significance.

As you were recalling such a happening, did you remember the joy that was hard to hide, or the smile that you could not keep inside? Back then you called it a rarity. That was appropriate, I guess, since the treat was rare.

Yet, what we referred to as a rare treat was really a blessing. Still unanticipated, unexpected, and at times undeserved, the Lord is going to bless you today. Not tomorrow, but today, in one or more ways. Realize that His blessings are not rare! The fact is, just being real, we just rarely take the significant time to recognize our many blessing on a daily basis! But when we do, my friend, you will be filled with joy; joy that overtakes your burdens, joy that supersedes the stuff you have to deal with, joy that prevails over your problems, and joy in realizing that the blessings of the day are just an add-ons to the multiple ways that the Lord has blessed you every day of your life!

Recognize your blessing today and react appropriately by praising God from whom all blessings flow! Give thanks to the Lord, for your pan de dulce, torpedoes, donuts, or any way the Lord blessed you today, starting at the moment you woke up and as they say, “had the activity of your limbs, and a reasonable portion of health and strength!” Your day ought to be better now! Be blessed!

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” (Psalm 107:1 New King James Version)

Committed to the climb,
