“In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will.” (Ephesians 1:11 NKJV)
Reacting to recent released research revelations, life expectancy, according to scientific sources, has been reduced due to the pandemic. Specifically, reports say that for some people the reduction equals two years and for some groups of individuals, it was shortened by three years. Sitting in the living room, my mind stimulated by the reports, I mentioned to my wife that my life expectancy is now 83 years old versus 85. I had speculated it would be 85 based on family history, but I adjusted my forecast according to “the science,” reducing it by two years. Her response was immediate and spoken with an inarguable tone, “According to God.” I had no comeback. I wisely concurred for she was correct.
“According to God;” meant that God will determine the length of my days, and I might as will tell you, yours too! Science cannot supplant the supreme will of God. Scholastic suppositions cannot substitute for Sovereign God’s plan for our days. Serious minded prognosticators or predictors cannot preempt the plan God has for us which includes our longevity.
So let us not worry about the number of years or days that we will spend on this earth. Let us spend our time making sure that we use our time, each day, to fulfill the purpose for why the Lord has left us here. Let us live according to the Creator and not create anxiety based on scientific news releases. I am with Gloria on this one, when it comes to trying to predict our years of life. It is “According to God.” And listen, if we bless Him by being a blessing for Him in this life, He just might reward us with an abundance of years beyond our expectation. Add on to that the fact that we who are saved will not experience a second death. We have the free gift of eternal life. Glory awaits us!
Now please Him today. Please God by going to church physically or virtually today! Be on time! Do not put it off or procrastinate! Hear the word of the Lord! Be blessed!
