“Jesus said to her, ’Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.’” (John 8:11 MEV)
Over the last few days, the daily meditations have been long. So today I’m going to keep it somewhat short. I’m for real this time! Now you can help me by looking at the verse above in context. Read John 8:3-11 again when you have more time today. You probably have heard it preached under such titles as “Second Chances” or “Love Does Not Take Into Account a Wrong Suffered” or “You Got in it With One Step, Get Out Of it The Same Way,” but I am just providing you with a way to recommended way to avoid any sinful behavior that threatens to become a habit in one step.
Listen! If you are struggling to avoid a specific behavior that does not belong in the repertoire of Christian conduct, apply the step above. “Go and sin more.” I know that there are programs with multiple steps and involve fellowship with other individuals that are trying to avoid what was perhaps an addictive behavior, and I am an advocate of accessing such programs, especially those that are based on the Word of God. However, if you are using as your excuse (1) your schedule, (2) the shut-in and/or shut down advice given during this pandemic, (3) the self declared sacredness of your personal secrets, or (4) social group fears produce anxiety in your case, let me give you a Scriptural based recommendation, as expressed by Jesus: “Go and sin no more.” Not many words, only three, but hopefully meaningful. Who better to recommend a one step program, but our Lord and Savior! Have a good day! Be blessed!
“The night is almost over, and the day is near. So let’s get rid of the actions that belong to the darkness and put on the weapons of light. Let’s behave appropriately as people who live in the day, not in partying and getting drunk, not in sleeping around and obscene behavior, not in fighting and obsession. Instead, dress yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ, and don’t plan to indulge your selfish desires.” (Romans 13:12-14 CEB)
Still committed to the climb,
