“Jesus said to her, “Believe Me, woman, that a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, because salvation is from the Jews. But a time is coming, and even now has arrived, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.” Jesus *said to her, “I am He, the One speaking to you.” And at this point His disciples came, and they were amazed that He had been speaking with a woman, yet no one said, “What are You seeking?” or, “Why are You speaking with her? “So the woman left her waterpot and went into the city, and said to the people, “Come, see a Man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is He?” They left the city and were coming to Him.” (John 4 21-30 NASB)
This is your Monday Short meditation. After being in the special presence of Jesus, this woman of Samaria forgot about her waterpots, became more focused on the water Jesus can give; water that become a fountain of water springing up to eternal life. After hearing words of truth, she was more focused on giving than getting. After her encounter, she went from becoming a prospect into becoming a prospector of souls. After being touched by the words of the Master, she went to speak a word and touch the lives of other. After being in a space with the One who saves, she went to do some personal evangelism, that others might be saved. What she did “After” had a great effect. Look at the last verse above and the verse below.
Now, just one question for you, prefaced by an assumption that I hope is perfectly fitting. My assumption: Yesterday you spent some time in the special presence of the Lord in the sanctuary, at your local church. My one question, and I want you to read it through the lenses of personal evangelism and soul-winning: “What are you going to do “After” you have heard a word of truth from the Lord, yesterday, in the assembly of the saints?
“Now from that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all the things that I have done.” (John 4:39 NASB)
