BE A VOLUNTEER

“Now the leaders of the people lived in Jerusalem, but the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of ten to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while nine-tenths remained in the other cities. And the people blessed all the men who volunteered to live in Jerusalem.” (Nehemiah 11:2 NASB)

This is your Monday Short meditation, straightforward and simply brief, but it is also straight from the heart.

Listen! Don’t be a bystander or an onlooker, and surely not a critic. when it comes to doing the work of the church. Be a volunteer! Yes, there are some who will do nothing in the church; nothing in helping their local place of worship build God’s kingdom here on earth. Yes, there are some who think the work of the church is only for the faithful few. My recommendation: Don’t be one of those individuals. Instead, again I say to you, be a volunteer! What you see in the text above, is the volunteers being blessed by the people. Being blessed for volunteering still happens today, and ultimately, from an even greater perspective. For you see, the Lord will see your volunteering work, and He will bless you. The blessing may be intangible, and it might be tangible. The blessing may be the joy that comes immediately from knowing you are doing the work of the Lord, and it may come on that day that the Lord speaks to you personally, and says, “Well done!”

Have a great week! Freely give of your time and talents to support the work of the church. Be blessed!

“’Wonderful!’ his master replied. ‘You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!’” (Matthew 25:23 Contemporary English Version)
