BEING AROUND YOUR PEOPLE

In 1994 I was one of the speakers at a retreat organized by a couple of highly successful professionals who worked in the tall building across the street from where I worked. I had met them at lunch one day and we talked about our Christian experiences and our churches. We also talked about the book that I had published entitled, yes you guessed it, “Committed to the Climb.” They actually made the title of the book the theme for this event. It was held about 90 miles from Indianapolis it a campsite for Christian Youth. The other speakers had achieved great things and did not omit talking about how God has blessed them in their work. One speaker was the President of a Bible College. Another speaker was the head of a homeless center, a former Colonel in the army, and the grandson of a famous WWII General. The attendees ranged from the unemployed to the heads of departments in large corporations. Yet, we all had one thing in common.

We were all Christians, all disciples of Christ, and all committed to using our gifts to help others come out of darkness into the marvelous, wonderful light. Although those in attendance differed from an income perspective and some lived in large houses while others lived at the shelters, and some were at the top of organization charts while others were at the lower tier of their companies, we were all believer in Jesus Christ. It was just good being around “your people.”

Tomorrow is Sunday, believer! Make your way to the house of the Lord. Enjoy the fellowship with other people of the faith. You will have the same feeling that I had at the aforementioned conference. You will say to others, “It was good being around your people.”

Have a great Saturday! Show up at the house of the Lord tomorrow, Sunday! Be blessed!

Committed to the climb,

Mark L King

P.S. If you respond on the Mark Writes Daily site, all you have to say is, “I did!” I’ll know what you mean.

  1. This is a great feeling being around Christian folk that are Christ-minded and God conscious. I get the similar feeling when I’m around a group of Latinos. Especially when they are also believers. There is nothing better than being around God.

    1. I see how happy that makes you and your presence makes them share your felling because your light is shining. Be blessed!

    1. Yes, you did! Nothing stopped you! Modeling obedience, discipline, devotion, dedication, and faithfulness. Be blessed!
