CLOTHED

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” (I Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV)

This is your Monday Short meditation. This past Friday, I drove my wife to a store to exchange an item. That was the plan, one stop. Surprise! The one-stop shopping exchange was changed! Maybe you have been there before. The one stop, well, add a zero to it, and you will arrive at the correct number of stops we made. Let me help you with the math! To the “1” add a “0” and you will come up with “10!” Listen! The stop changed to shopping. A one-hour run, the initially perceived the maximum in my mortal mind, turned into a five-hour run, far exceeding my estimated max. Why so many trips?  Why five hours? Well, my wife was preparing for a retreat on Saturday, followed by a flight to a major city for a two-week visit with family. You know how it is, my friend, she had to be clothed!

But guess what? I had to be clothed too! How so? I had to be clothed in love. That required being kind, patient, not easily angered, and persevering. Now I know the Apostle Paul had no idea this would come in handy on a one-stop outing that turned into a multiple stop outing. But thank God for His inspired word. It definitely came in handy.

Friend, I also had to be clothed like Job was in His past, as described in the closing scripture. A question for you, “How are you going to be clothed today?” Think about it? Have a good week! Be blessed!

“I put on righteousness, and it clothed me.” (Job 29:14a The Amplified Bible)

Committed to the climb,

  1. “Keeps no record of wrongs” is a major theme within this scripture. The closing scripture is so meaningful as it reminds me of my own responsibility with being clothed.
