“The Lord said to Joshua, “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face? Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions. That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction. “Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, ‘Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There are devoted things among you, Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove them.” (Joshua 7:10-13 NIV)
This is your Sunday Share meditation. Our Senior Pastor, Rev. Marcus R. King, in his opening comments captured the congregation’s attention with these three statements: (1) “All types of knockdowns will come in our lives.” (Note: Some of them are brought about by our own actions.) (2) “What happens after the knockdown is what is important.” (3) “Wherever you fall, that does not have to be where you finished.”
Pastor King went on to let us know what God had to say to us as he preached a sermon entitled, “You Better Get Up.” As always, I recommend that you listen to the message in its entirety at the Salt Of The Earth (Indianapolis) Facebook page or the church website. In the meantime, let me move you to do so by simply sharing the three major points made by Pastor King that will help you when you experience a knockdown in life. Preaching from what is “in the text, ”in context, Pastor incorporated the following in his specific sent message.
Point I: STAND UP! (Don’t stay where your failure put you.)
Point II: CLEAN UP! (Straighten up! God is merciful! And God shows you mercy because He loves you too much not to help you after you have committed to straightening up! That’s good news!)
Point III: GOD BACK UP (When you do, make sure you put God in the equation.)
Instead of looking at all the noise on social media, take a look at the full sermon in your free time. You will be equipped and educated by, once again, a powerful word specifically for you. Have a great day! Be blessed!
“Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you and go up and attack Ai. For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land.” (Joshua 8:1 NIV)
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
I agree this sent message was speaking to on Sunday and still speaking to me today, I have to Stand up and get back to my purpose, I need to Clean up what I am carry and Go back when God give me another opportunity to Go Back with wisdowm, confidence and pray up.. Be Blessed
Thank you for your sincere, transparent response. Sent messages can bring about positive change. Be blessed!
This message spoke to me from many vantage points. Recognizing that we will go through “knockdowns” is one thing that is important even more so when the “knockdown” is caused by ourselves. The good news is that God will pick us up if we are connected to Him. The formula to follow is easy: stand up, clean up, and go back. I wrote that down to remind me of that.
Thanks for your response! Yes, Pastor spoke to us all in one way or the other. Thanks for pointing out the good news! Be blessed!
