Now the serpent was more cunning than any animal of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God really said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden?’” The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’” The serpent said to the woman, “You certainly will not die! For God knows that on the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will become like God, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took some of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband with her, and he ate. Isn’t it a wonderful Wednesday? Of course it is! If you don’t feel that way, look at your blessings and not your burdens. See if that does not change your response to the question I just posed.
This is your Sunday Share meditation. As you know, I want to achieve multiple purposes. Of course, I want to show you the value of writing and reviewing sermon notes, but I also want to share the points of emphasis brought out by Pastor M.R. King, Salt Of The Earth Church (Indianapolis). You can watch the full sermon on the church’s Facebook page or website.
After noting that all of us wake up with the impact of influences that affect us, including all the surrounding noise in our culture, shouting out from our circumstances, loudly speaking from the perspective of our crisis, or crying out in our conditions, Pastor said we should cancel out such noise with God’s word. He pointed out that God’s word needs to be the foundation of our life. He followed that by saying, “Let God’s word be the loudest voice in our lives. Recognize when the worldly voices change the truth. The word of God is truth.”
Pastor pointed out that when we know the word of God, when the noise tries to sway our thinking, our behaviors, and even the words that we speak, we need to look at the passage above and overcome the influence of the world by using the words in his sermon title, “God Don’t Talk Like That.” When you listen to the sermon, you will hear an abundance of examples that show how we can benefit from using those five words.
I hope you will listen to it in its entirety. I’m positive that you will take-away more than what you will get from what I am about to share. One extra tidbit, actually a valuable teaching that Pastor shared: “God’s word is full of dos and don’ts. But understand that the “don’ts” are God’s way of showing us love.”

“No, no, no. God don’t talk like that.” That statement repeated several time by Pastor MRKing, sparked a fire in my heart. His points were so applicable and the way he had so many examples of real situations made a real connection to the word. I’ve been so blessed by the preached word over the weeks that I can’t stop uttering bits and pieces of the sermon in my head. Glory to God for the impact the word has on our lives.
That was indeed a great sermon. I listened to a couple of televised messages Sunday, but none topped this one. Fire! Be blessed!
