MAKE THIS QUESTION PERSONAL

This is your Monday Short meditation, it is not long, but it is about “How long?”

In last week’s Bible Study classes, as we were going verse by verse through the first half of Hosea, 8, we came across the latter part of verse 5 where God asked His prodigal people; a people had wandered away from being faithful to Him their heavenly Father; a people who had shown disregard as evident by their infidelity to our patient and long-suffering Creator. God asked, “How long will they be incapable of innocence?”

We focused on two other times where God asked directly or indirectly by His sent messenger, “How long” in the Bible. First, we looked at Numbers 14:11where God asked Moses, after the majority rejected the minority report of Joshua and Caleb, “How long will this people spurn Me? And how long will they not believe in Me, despite the signs which I have performed in their midst?” Then we looked at I Kings 18:21, right before Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal where God’s man, his specific messenger spoke these specific words on behalf of God to His people for a specific purpose, “How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow Him. But the people did not answer a word.”

Stop and think, with integrity, about an area in your life that you realize that you have to change; perhaps something that is small or something that is great as it relates to behaviors that do not align with God’s principles for His people. Then, after a little self-examination, Ask yourself, “How long?” Next, if you feel like doing some personal evangelism, ask someone in your family who has not come to Jesus and made Him their Savior and Lord, “How long?”

Love you! Have a great week! Be blessed!

“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all he ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as you ever can.” (John Wesley)

  1. That was a great question in the Victory Class worksheet. We were to evaluate ourselves and identify an area where that did not align with God’s principles. I had touched on the area of personal evangelism. It boiled down to being rejected if I approached someone with a testimony of how good God has been to me. Our new series on personal evangelism in Sunday School will help develop my way of thinking so as not to fear rejection but be bold with the help of the Holy Spirit.

    1. Great response! You covered Victory Class, Sunday School, and the meditation subject. Regarding rejection, don’t automatically assume you did not plant a seed. In time. someone will water, and God will give the increase. We all need to develop in the area of personal evangelism You are not by yourself. If we focus on multiplication and the business of winning souls, the world will be a better place. Be blessed!
