PRESSING ON THROUGH THE PAIN

“He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord!” (Isaiah 26:3 The Living Bible)

This past Sunday morning I got it all done: the daily meditation posting on the blog and sending it out via email, the final review of my sermon for the day, the sending out the sermon manuscript to the sick, shut-in, and a few special friends in the ministry, and of course, the delivery of the God-sent message.  I got it all done in spite of physical pain in my lower back and hip. Maybe that will impress you and encourage you to press on through the pain.  But do you want to know what really impressed me Sunday morning? What really impressed me was that our new drummer, after giving me an advance notice about 3:00 a.m. that he was having a reaction to his second vaccine and might miss service, he showed up at church.  And he even arrived early to tweak the equipment he uses.  He stayed the entire service, listened attentively, and then departed to get some much-needed rest.  He pressed on through the pain.

If you are experiencing any pain today, pain that is caused by any of a variety of reasons, let me encourage you to press on.  Continue to depend on the Lord to be your keeper, your protector, and the One who will guard your going out and your coming in.  Consider that you can rely on the fact that the Lord will be your helper, your healer, and your heavy load bearer.  Concur with David who expresses some encouraging words in the closing verses.

Take time this morning, even in the midst of whatever kind of pain you are experiencing; take time to call on the Lord!  Pray to Him!  Press on!  Patiently and confidently wait on Him!  Come to the point of faith where you know that the Lord will see you through!  You will make it!  Press on through the pain. Be blessed!

“Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.”  (Psalm 23:4 NLT)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
