On more than one occasion, individuals have sent me a video found on social media that serves as evidence that there are faithful people in this world. However, when I scroll down from those faith building videos, I see a plethora of videos, some that promulgate sin, some that perpetuate unfaithfulness, and some that poke fun at the true people of God and His church.
My observation made me wonder how much time people spend scrolling on social media versus strolling through the word of God. I took advantage of AI to quickly get a glimpse. This is what I found out about scrolling: “On average, people spend about 141 minutes per day on social media, which includes scrolling through Facebook. This translates to roughly 2 hours and 21 minutes of daily engagement across various platforms.” When it came to spending time in the word of God, strolling through the scriptures, this is what I found out from AI, “On average, Christians spend about 15 minutes per day reading the Bible and engaging in prayer or other religious activities.”
Now, I cannot certify the accuracy of the findings shared by AI. However, I can challenge you to personally evaluate how you spend your time, scrolling or strolling? Think about it! Be blessed!

Oh man, you got me on this one. Scrolling through Facebook is entertaining for me. Comparing the time that I can spend on a daily basis scrolling on Facebook vs the time I spend in prayer daily does not compare. Garrison just commented yesterday that I spent more time yesterday on the phone scrolling than the generation referred to as Gen Z. I did study the Bible more than I did scrolling yesterday. So thankfully, the time spent yesterday scrolling was ALMOST the same time I spent studying.
So, it was a beneficial read, right? But listen, there are more people who will better manage their time after reading this meditation, regardless of the generation. Thanks for the transparent response. Be blessed!
Thank you for the reminder. I don’t even have facebook but I do scroll on my phone. Now I know I have to spend more time reading God’s word. How can follow God’s word read it and practice what he teaches. Thank you have a blessed day.
