“Life is a classroom. Only those who are willing to be lifelong learners will move to the head of the class.” — Zig Ziglar
This is your Monday Short meditation! In your high school and/or even in your undergraduate studies, your curriculum, the set of courses you had to take consisted of many required courses and some elective courses. You couldn’t graduate by just taking electives. You had to take some tough, intense courses that were required. The same is true in the curriculum of life.
As a believer, in the curriculum of life, you will be required to go through some tests, trials, troubles, tough times, and tribulations; required courses for your development and maturity. You will be required to climb mountains high and go through valleys low for your development of faithfulness. You will have times that are rough, rigorous, and the rigor is such that resilience in necessary. You will have to face predicaments that require much prayer. You will have to be in the classrooms called rain and blissful sunshine. You will have good times and bad times in your required curriculum. You will have to take handling grief and handling good and plenty. Sometimes the required courses will require a tutor, a helper, and the best Helper is the Holy Spirit. Listen! No one is exempt from the required courses in the curriculum of life…
However, there will be times when we can choose electives such as our mate selection, our making disciples level of commitment, our manifested stewardship level, and our marching upward in alignment with the Christian band of warriors. There are many more electives in the curriculum of life, and we can choose to enroll in them or not. But please note that even in the elective classes, you can only successfully handle the content of the course by relying on the same book that is used for the required courses. That book is the Bible, the word of God. It stands forever.
One more thing, my friend. You will never finish the curriculum of life as long as you are living. The good news is that you will, as Dr. H.C. King often says, graduate to glory when your earthly day are over. But in the meantime, strive to excel in both the required courses and the electives. Oh, today is no exception. As a matter of fact, you are in class right now! Whether you have to go through required courses today or some elective courses, be confident that you can come out good knowing that you have a source that you can depend on to do well. Be blessed!
“I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13 NIV)
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
Today is not an exception when it comes to leaning on the everlasting arms of my Lord and Savior. I will count on Him to guide me in selecting the right curriculum of life.
I’m in the “classroom” too, learning from the curriculum! Be blessed!
