“I’m blessed! God knows I’m blessed! As I look all around me
I realize, I’m blessed!” (Chicago Mass Choir Lyrics)
On the table in the center of my living room sits an inspirational black cube that has a word printed on each of its six sides. My wife, faithfully turns the cube daily, positioning it so we can read a focus word for the day. You can’t miss it. The six words are Pray, Live, Laugh, Love, Believe, and Blessed. Whichever word she chooses, for some reason, it does not seem to be random because it is specifically the word needed for that day. Perhaps the Lord put it on her heart, so it would definitely not fall under the category of “random.”
Praise God for the daily word that she selects, for it always has a personal meaning. Look, I don’t care who you are, if you come to my house, and you really look at the cube, not as just a piece of layered home décor, but rather as an inanimate object, you will see that it is used as a motivational messenger. Listen! If God can send a message by means of a rock, a fig tree, or a mustard seed, it seems He can use other inanimate messengers. So, read on!
If you just glimpse at this cube or go beyond the glimpse and pause as you are passing the table, the cube will move you to think about its message for the day and in a personal, applicable, and God-conscious way too. This morning, the word was “Blessed.”
When I looked at the cube, I immediately thought of the lyrics above and then I personalized them, thinking on how many ways the Lord has blessed me through my life. I started with the blessing of seeing a new day, and then I thought about the blessings all along my 77and 1/2 -year journey; far too many to count. This made me look at look at my blessings and not my burdens; my blessings and not biggest struggles; my blessings and not my backaches and body pains that come with aging; my blessings, and not my baggage from the past that Satan would have me focus on. “Blessed” says the cube! The message was received. So, my day will be better, and believe me, I will not forsake the assembly of the saints tomorrow, Sunday. How could I and how could you, knowing how much the Lord has blessed you! Let’s reciprocate, to the best of our ability, realizing we could never bless the Lord as much as He has blessed us! Praise Him and offer thanks in the sanctuary Sunday! Be blessed!
“I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (Psalm 34:1 (English Standard Version)
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
“Be Blessed,” is always a powerful message. You stated so many blessings that we often take for granted. Each movement you can make without assistance, is a blessing. Take time today to thank God for all of His amazing blessings. He didn’t have to do it.
Yes ma’am, Dr. King! There are so many blessings that we take for granted and some we do not even realize. I’m thinking about preventive mercy now, the times where God prevent things from happening to us because of His love for us! Be blessed!
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
Thank for the blessing LaTanza! The Lord hears you! Thanks for being a messenger. Be blessed!
