THE SAME ZIP CODE

“For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our everlasting home in heaven.  With Jesus’ help we will continually offer our sacrifice of praise to God by telling others of the glory of his name.  Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have with those in need, for such sacrifices are very pleasing to him.” (Hebrews: 13:14-16 The Living Bible)

I have lived in the same zip code for 32 years!  Okay, five of those years were in a townhome before moving into my current residence, but I’m still in the same zip code.  Before the 32 year stretch started, I had lived with my family in 8 different zip code locations; a few of them out of state.  However, I finally got stabilized, stopped moving and I am settled in, Lord willing, my “forever home.”  Well that’s as it relates to my residence in my mortal life; a place provided here down for my earthly dwelling.

When it comes to my spiritual journey, I’ll admit that like many other individuals, I have lived in behavioral areas that had different codes of living; not in compliance with the Creator’s will for my life.  But one day, I got it right and I recognized that I am a citizen of a real forever home; an eternal home in glory.  Therefore, I’m doing my best to reflect the code of that place where I’m bound; living by the same set-apart standards, not just momentarily or for this month of the next, but for the rest of my time as I journey home.  In the meantime, I ‘m giving it my all in order to walk appropriate as an ambassador for my authentic “zip code” that is absent of any numeric identification, but is simple known by the name “heaven” and is described by Jesus in the closing verse.

My challenge to you on this early Saturday morning, my fellow believer, is that you join me in the commitment to represent our actual forever home.  Oh, I almost forgot to remind you!  Don’t forget to attend church in person or via virtual worship service tomorrow!  Be blessed!

“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:2-3 NIV)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
