Our annual, special celebration of Resurrection Morning is only a few days behind us. Part of the story associated with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection is the scene at what has been referred to as the Last Supper. This was the last meal that Jesus would share with His disciples, until a post-resurrection gathering. At the supper Jesus makes a statement that caused each disciple to examine himself. Jesus says, “Verily I say unto you, that one of you will betray me.” The disciples were exceedingly sorrowful and began to ask, “Is it I Lord?
Today as you go out to be the salt of the earth, the light of the world, a life-bearing witness for the Lord, and to show forth evidence that Jesus is your Lord and Savior, you will be face assaults by the enemy that will try to get you off the narrow path. Yes, you will face persuasions and pressure from a variety of places that will try to push you off the narrow path of righteousness, to the left or to the right, and put you in a place where your behavior can be likened to a betrayal. Now I am praying that you will not be the one to betray the Lord by your conduct, your cocky word, or your condemning spirit. I’m praying that you will stay the course and stay close to the Master. I’m saying the same prayers for me my friend. We need to ask a question as we start our day, but let’s phrase it different. As opposed to saying, “Is it I Lord,” let’s inquire in such a different way, “Will it be me?” Make up your mind that it will not be you, and then, go about your day, confident that you will show the world you are one of His disciples, answering for His sake, your sake, and the sake others; answering by your actions and interactions with the world, “Surely not I!”
Have a great day and make a difference in someone else’s life who needs to be taught by your response that followers of Christ can stay on the path of righteous living. My prayers will be hovering over you as the Lord’s mantle covers His own! Be blessed!
