Last week they had the 500 Mini-Marathon Race in Indianapolis. The racecourse goes right by Sis. Katie’s house. Both our households arrive very early on Sunday morning and we have a chance to fellowship with one another. Sis. Katie commented that she did not see me among the runners this year. I know she was joking! She knows my age! I responded by telling her that I have not ran that race since 2003, convinced by my youngest daughter that I should give it a try. Will I ever do it again? Not that race! I’ll run the Christian race, but not that race!
Sis. Katie went on to describe how people were discarding some of the layers of their clothes as they ran. Clothes such as jogging jackets, sweatshirts, headgear of all types, and some of the men even took off their tee shirts. Get this now! They never went back to get them, too focused on finishing the race.
That’s how we ought to be running the Christian race! Focus on finishing the race. Take the advice of the writer in Hebrews and discard anything that might slow you down, stop your progress, or send you falling, better said, experiencing a failing, giving in to some enticing sin.
Whether you have retired from marathon racing, or perhaps you never have run a race since your old school days, there is one race you and I need to keep running! Join me in continuing to run the Christian race, discarding all that interferes with our progress. Have a great day! Be blessed!
“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1 NASB 1995)
Committed to the climb,

When run the Christian race , we have Great Help, Help from God’s promises, Help with God’s present, and Help from the Holy Spirit. Be Blessed
Thank God for the Great Help! I like how you expanded the thought! Be blessed!
Shedding off that which hinders you from making perfect progress needs to go. I’m thankful for the way you highlighted this in your meditation. You painted the picture so vividly. Just thinking of all the things discarded by the runners in the race you mentioned, caused me to realize that we have much to discard, too.
SIs. Katie talked about it Sunday morning and that was the inspiration. Thanks for agreeing. Be blessed!
