“Those who live in the shelter of the Most Highwill find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91:1 NLT)
Monday afternoon, as I drove to church for a meeting with the pastor, I passed a small park that had a shelter that provided shade from the scorching hot sun. Primarily, the purpose of this structure was to provide parkgoers, picnickers, and parents who would be seeking to remain cool while their children played, a perfect place to rest.
But listen, when I drove by, I saw no kids. There was no party. But I saw something. Let me tell you what I saw. I saw a couple of people sitting in a car that they had pulled under the shelter and had parked on the concrete slab. Now, this was not an easy task. Some work was involved. They had to move some stuff out of the way; picnic tables and trash containers. It involved getting out of the car and making a way in a place where there was not supposed to be a way, especially for a vehicle.
While the couple in the park probably were not doing right in their effort to get in the shadow of the shelter for protection, there is a place where you can go that would be consider right, recommended, and rewarding. Yes, there is a place where you are invited, and you can be delighted! There is a place that you can enter by faith, not by work. Yes, there is a place where you can be protected and perfected. Yes, there is a place where you can be secure and safe! Where is this place? My friend, you just read about it in the opening verse.
Come and live, not just for a moment, but for a lifetime in the shelter of the Most High and you will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty! Be blessed!
“For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress,
a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat…” (Isaiah 25:4a English Standard Version)
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
Thanks be to God for His almighty shelter and shadow of protection. Without Him, where would I be.
Yes, thanks be to God He is our Protector, our Provider, and our very Present Help! Be blessed!
