DOCTOR RECOMMENDED

“My child, pay attention to what I say.Listen carefully to my words.  Don’t lose sight of them.Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.” (Proverbs 4:20-22 NLT)

Have you ever read the messages imprinted on some of the over the counter medical and dental products as you browsed through them?  Did you see that many of them included what is supposed to be perceived as a having a professional stamp of approval and to influence your purchasing selection?  And the last time you looked in the cabinet where you store your mouthwash, did you notice that there were bold and sometimes bright messages that say on each brand stored, “Dentists Recommended?”  How about those info commercials about a variety of products that will enable you to run without pain as in your more vibrant athletic days, avoid the costs of a chiropractor’s service, or magically remove (Cover up is more like it!) the bags under your eyes.  Did the actor promoting the product, the eye-catching visual presentation, or the attention grabbing celebrity’s voice communicate that the product was “Doctor Recommended?”

These are the questions that I ask when I see such things: “How many doctors, 2 or perhaps 3?”  “Do these doctors have actual degrees in the field associated with the product?”  Were these really self-proclaimed doctors or were they really just people who stayed at a Holiday Inn?”  “Does the doctor, degreed in dentistry, give us a certain mouthwash that is merely recommended as ‘the best’ because the pharmaceutical salesperson left several samples with them to distribute to their patients?”  Okay, I’m not trying to start any controversy.  I was just wondering about the validity and the integrity of the endorsement, “Doctor Recommended;” the statements boldly and strategically placed on certain labels.

However, there is one doctor who I recommend that you consult with or go to for a prescription that will work.  There is one doctor who is definitely real that I will refer you to.  And my reference is not based on hearsay, but rather on my own personal experience.  Yes, there is one doctor I can recommend who has never lost a patient.  Who is He?  The Lord, strong and mighty!  The Lord, all-knowing and wise beyond definition!  The Lord, One who has just what you need to heal your sin-sick diseases!  The One who can handle all of your fears!  The One who can hasten the remediation; the relief of any behavioral ailment!  His prescriptions, found in His word are indisputable and irrefutable.  The Lord comes with my utmost recommendation and I have no reluctance is telling you He is a “Doctor Recommended.”  Some of your own peers have proclaimed, “He’s a Doctor who never lost a patient!  Seek Him today and see if I am not right.  There is no gimmick here, only God.

Have a great Saturday and pay a visit to “The Doctor” tomorrow at worship service.  Well, I want you to do that, but really He is available right now too and He is waiting for your call!  The Psalmist below backs my “Doctor Recommendation!”  Be blessed!

“He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.  He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.  He fills my life with good things.  My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!” (Psalm 103:3-5 NLT)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King

  1. I am leaving this in response to the Doctor Recommended: Thank you for the meditation on February 13, 2021. It makes my heart happy to know that I have a Doctor who does not make me wait three months to get an appointment with Him. I can call him on the main line and tell Him what I want. I can call Him on the mainline and offer a prayer for my children, or my friends, or my community. Lord I need thee every hour, oh iI need thee. The beautiful thing is that He will never forsake me and that’s worth telling.
