Monday, I received a call from my Medicare healthcare organization. The purpose of the call was to check my interest in scheduled home visits, since such visits are covered by my plan. I politely declined, patiently explaining that I have regular three-month visits with my physician and periodic visits with two specialists. The caller persisted, continuing to try to convince me to accept their services, but eventually, after I endured her soft-selling approach, she accepted my explanation as I reiterated that I was declining because I felt that my current medical maintenance program and physical prevention care was sufficient.
After the call, I thought about the maintenance of my soul and the type of preventive care that can only come from the Lord. So, after the call, I flipped the script. I made a call to the Lord, the One who began a good work in me and the One who is progressively helping me live better, transforming me through His word and guiding me by His Spirit. Yes, I wanted to ensure that I am in as good a condition as I think I am spiritually, and I also wanted to identify the areas (plural) of my life where I need to focus on improving to please Him more, and live up to the salt of the earth, light of the world similitudes. However, those are not the only reasons I made the call. I also made the call to obtain preventive care that would elevate my witnessing capability and my making disciples ability. When I made the call. I invited the Lord to make home visits with me anytime He deemed it necessary. My heart will be an open door.

Oh indeed, the Lord needs to make a home visit to me continuously. Only He knows my thoughts before I do. Only He can clear and clean my thoughts before they escape into dangerous territory. Those lyrics and the scripture create an opportunity to escape the evil ways the enemy attempts to catch me.
