“How sweet is the taste of your instructions—sweeter even than honey!” (Psalm 119:23 Good News Translation)
For a little over two months, I went without drinking my habitual one cup of coffee in the morning. I tried decaf coffee, but my body said, in more ways than one, “You ain’t fooling me!” So, I brought back out my turquoise coffee cup that says, “No Coffee, No Talkie,” and I resumed drinking the brew; just the one cup in the morning. I benefitted from the renewal of my habit, but I’m not the only one. Yes, I was no longer having the impact of withdrawal which impacted my interactions, either the withdrawal type or the over-reaction type, with people around me. But today I learned that it is also going to benefit you.
As I prepared my freshly brewed cup of coffee, I decided to use one packet of Splenda, the Stevia product. As you already know, each packet has a little saying on it. My packet this morning had this message imprinted on the back side, “Sweeten Your Soul.” Initially this saying made me think about the countless ways people try to sweeten their soul and nourish their emotional well-being. But after thinking about the saying a little bit more, I came to the conclusion that the best way to sweeten my soul was through the word of God. The opening scripture is so true.
If you need to sweeten your soul today, make sure you spend some time in God’s word. In addition to that, spend some time with the Living Word, the Logos, yes, Jesus Christ. Be blessed!
“Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.” (Christian Hymn composed by Charles Loveless, 1936)
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
There’s no sweeter Name I know but the Name of Jesus. There’s no better way to spend the day but in the sweet word of the Lord. Oh how I love the Name, Jesus. He’s the sweetest Name, I know. I will make my day sweeter today by spending time with the Living Word, the Logos, Jesus.
He’s sweet I know! That’s what the songwriter wrote, and you are in agreement. Be blessed!
