SIGNAL STRENGTH

“Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.” (I Peter 4:8 NASB)

Today’s meditation is a continuation of the Sunday Share. The presenter at Salt Of The Earth’s (Indianapolis) The Next Generation Service did a Teaching Emphasis that was directed at the youth and younger generations, but as with every bit of God’s word, it is directed at you and me too. So, take a look at what Sis. L.T. shared with us. You will be blessed!

“CHECK YOUR SIGNAL: “Quick question — has your phone ever lost signal at the worst possible moment? You needed to send that text, make that call… and nothing. Dead zone.”

“Peter tells us to love each other DEEPLY. Not one bar. Not barely connected. FULL signal. Let’s talk about what that looks like.

THE 3 SIGNAL LEVELS:

• 1 Bar — Dead Zone

“This is when we expose people’s mistakes. We gossip, we screenshot, we post. We’ve all been here. This is the opposite of what Peter is talking about.”

• 2–3 Bars — Weak Signal

“This is when we tolerate people but keep our distance. We’re polite, but cold. We’re connected — barely. But love isn’t just tolerating somebody. That’s not deep.”

• 4–5 Bars — Full Signal

“This is what Peter is calling us to. Full signal love forgives. It covers. It doesn’t ignore sin — it deals with it and then covers it in grace. Think about someone who loved you even when you didn’t deserve it. THAT’S full signal.

THE DEAD ZONE MOMENT

Here’s what I want you to think about: Where are YOUR dead zones? Who is that person in your life where your signal always drops? A parent? A classmate? Someone who hurt you? Peter doesn’t say love people when it’s easy. He says love DEEPLY. That word in the Greek means stretched out — like a muscle being pushed to its limit. Deep love costs something.”

Write down one name or one situation where you’re going to turn up your love signal this week. You don’t have to show anybody. This is between you and God.  Have a great day! Say this aloud, “Full bars. Full love. No dead zones.”

The same God who covers YOUR sins with love is calling you to do the same for somebody else. Go full signal this week. Be blessed!
