It’s Sunday morning, and I know you are getting ready to go to church. Right? Well, I hope so! It’s not time to stay in bed and slumber! Wake up! It is not time to snore more, but it is time to know God more! Wake up! It is not time to find temporary comfort under your blanket, but rather it is time to find comfort in the special presence of the Lord! Wake up!
Perhaps you usually rely on coffee or some other caffeinated drink to get you up! But guess what? I got something better for you! A “Wake Up” call from the Lord! Listen! He is not like the front desk clerk at the hotel who you told to give you a wakeup call and the clerk forgot. God is giving you a wake-up call right now from the scriptures, even before you get to church to hear the specific word that the Lord has sent specifically for you, for a specific purpose. Read the following, and then “Wake Up” and be on your way to worship the Lord!
“Learn as you go along what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless pleasures of evil and darkness, but instead, rebuke and expose them. It would be shameful even to mention here those pleasures of darkness that the ungodly do. But when you expose them, the light shines in upon their sin and shows it up, and when they see how wrong they really are, some of them may even become children of light! That is why God says in the Scriptures, ‘Awake, O sleeper, and rise up from the dead; and Christ shall give you light.’ So be careful how you act; these are difficult days. Don’t be fools; be wise: make the most of every opportunity you have for doing good. Don’t act thoughtlessly but try to find out and do whatever the Lord wants you to. Don’t drink too much wine, for many evils lie along that path; be filled instead with the Holy Spirit and controlled by him. Talk with each other much about the Lord, quoting psalms and hymns and singing sacred songs, making music in your hearts to the Lord. Always give thanks for everything to our God and Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:10-20 The Living Bible.)
Now, don’t mistakenly thing you don’t have to go to the house of the Lord after reading this brief meditation. Wake up and enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise! Be blessed!
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
This is the day that the Lord has made, Let us Rejoice and be glad in it. Be Blessed.
Rejoice always
My response comes late in the day, but we can still rejoice and be glad in it1 Be blessed!
Getting the wake-up call from the Lord is always good and welcomed. The Living Bible translation of Ephesians 5 is so refreshing. It is refreshing to know that we should talk with one another about the Lord, quoting psalms and hymns and singing sacred songs, making music in our hearts to the Lord. This sounds as if true fellowship is happening. What a time to rejoice.
As always Dr. King, I appreciate your reflection, response, and by way of your words, reemphasizing how we should talk with one another. Be blessed!
