“He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He.” Deuteronomy 32:4 King James Version)
The title above is not in reference to the awesome wrestler who’s also an award-winning actor. No, it is not about that Rock because as I watched a wrestling documentary, I was reminded that that Rock was defeated, and dethroned. Neither am I talking about the franchise movie star who was yelled at by one of his men helping him in his corner, “Hey Rock.” Somewhere in the franchise he was shaken and beaten by his opponent.
Nobody can beat “The Rock” that I am referring to in the heading of this meditation. You may be asking, Just who is this Rock/” Well this Rock, He is El Tsuri, translated from Hebrew to English to mean “The Rock,” referring to our unshakable God.
Mr. Hudson went on to make it known to his readers that “The Rock” that nobody can be beat is also called in Hebrew, making it personal, “El Sela,” meaning in English, “My Rock.” Mr. Hudson explains this name by writing, “As My Rock, God reveals Himself as the personal foundation upon whom we can build our lives. In calling on ‘My Rock,’ you are saying, ‘God is my refuge, my shelter from the storms of life.’” As I read more, what I already know was confirmed by Mr. Hudson, “Since my God, “My Rock,’ cannot be shaken, my position in Him cannot be shaken, and my ultimate well-being can never be threatened.”
If you are wrestling with something in life, turn to “The Rock!’ If you are boxing against the deceiver who is trying to beat you down, make sure you depend on the One you also say, from a personal perspective, “He is “My Rock.’”
Now, go out, not acting like the movie star “Rock,” but go out depending on “El Sela” and “El Tsuri!” Have a victorious day! Be blessed!
“God is our refuge and strength, a very ready help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1 NASB)
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
God is my Rock. The beautiful thing about that is knowing that I can depend on Him. He is my refuge and strength, my very present help in the times of trouble. Because He is my Rock, I can do all things. Without Him, I cannot achieve anything. He is the One.
Stand on the Rock! And do you remember the song, “On Christ The Solid Rock I Stand?” Check it out. Thanks once again for your response. Be blessed.
